Dining Room Manager – Gustav’s (Downtown Vancouver)

Gustav’s is a locally owned German restaurant with a rich history dating back to 1992. Acquired by NW Hospitality Group in 2023, we honor Gustav’s long-standing traditions and authentic recipes while evolving the brand for the next generation. From our scratch kitchen to our award-winning bar program, we deliver legendary hospitality in a warm, inviting environment. NW Hospitality Group also operates Amaro’s Table and Cecilia, giving our team the opportunity to grow within a company that values high standards, quality, and innovation.

As Dining Room Manager - or Bar Manager, you’ll take a hands-on leadership role in a busy, high-energy dining room. You’ll support your team, maintain attention to detail, and ensure every guest has a memorable experience. We’re looking for strong, experienced leaders who are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about hospitality. You’ll shape the culture of the dining room while inspiring your team to consistently deliver exceptional service.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead Daily Operations: Oversee the flow of the dining room — from greeting guests to managing service and keeping everything running smoothly.
  • Create Memorable Guest Experiences: Bring Gustav’s traditions to life, making every guest feel welcome and ensuring they leave excited to return.
  • Develop & Inspire the Team: Coach, mentor, and support front-of-house staff while fostering a culture of pride, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with Kitchen & Bar: Keep communication strong to ensure authentic, high-quality German cuisine and seamless service.
  • Maintain Tradition with Quality: Uphold Gustav’s signature recipes and service style while embracing opportunities to innovate.
  • Support the General Manager: Assist with scheduling, training, inventory, and day-to-day operations to ensure the restaurant runs efficiently.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experienced Leader: 3–5+ years in restaurant management, ideally in a scratch kitchen or full-service environment.
  • Hospitality-Driven: Passionate about creating memorable guest experiences and sharing Gustav’s traditions.
  • Team-Oriented & Positive: Motivates by example, uplifts staff, and keeps energy high in busy moments.
  • Organized & Calm Under Pressure: Handles multiple priorities while maintaining high standards.
  • Reliable & Flexible: Full-time, 50-hour work weeks, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Passionate About German Cuisine & Beer: Appreciates tradition while embracing opportunities for innovation.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • Legacy & Impact: Be part of a locally owned brand with deep roots in the community and help shape its future.
  • Growth Opportunities: Work across NW Hospitality Group concepts, including Amaro’s Table and Cecilia, with plenty of avenues for development.
  • Competitive Salary based on experience
  • Healthcare Benefits (medical, dental, vision)
  • PTO Benefits
  • Time for What Matters: Closed on major holidays: 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day
